An easy way to give back
Somerset-based, family-run Perrys Recycling has created an easy, free way for people in Somerset to raise money for their local community: by recycling unwanted paper in their Charity Paper Banks. For every tonne of paper recycled through one of the dozens of Perrys Recycling paper banks supported at supermarket car parks across the county, £10 is donated to local Community Foundations to fund local grassroots charities in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
Newspaper, magazines, leaflets, greetings cards, junk mail and telephone books deposited at the paper banks are recycled at UK paper mills where they’re turned into packaging and printer paper.
Since the scheme was launched, it has raised over £20,000 for local Community Foundations.
About Community Foundations
Community Foundations are local charities that help passionate people change the world on their doorstep by funding small, local charities and by inspiring local giving and philanthropy.
The five local Community Foundations supported by the Charity Paper Bank scheme provide over £10 million of funding for thousands of life-changing projects every year, helping to build stronger communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
How you can help
Our innovative Charity Paper Bank scheme relies on partnerships with local supermarkets, who host our Paper Banks in high-footfall areas, providing a convenient way for their customers to recycle. Becoming a supermarket partner demonstrates a commitment to local charities, helping customers to raise vital funds that will make a difference to the places and causes that matter to them.
Perrys Recycling is based in Marston Magna near Yeovil, and also has depots at Bridgwater (Somerset), Avonmouth (Bristol) and Appledore (Devon). Alongside Somerset Community Foundation they support Dorset, Wiltshire and Quartet Community Foundations through their Charity Paper Bank schemes.
